In one of the more unexpected musical pairings of recent times Norwegian singer/songwriter Ane Brun has been announced as a touring partner for Peter Gabriel’s upcoming European ‘New Blood Tour’ dates. The legendary UK art rocker is hitting the road sans guitars but with a full orchestra and his daughter Melanie, as well as Brun and others, to showcase material from his recent brooding instrumental covers album Scratch My Back.
Sweden-based singer Brun, whose last studio album was 2008’s well recieved Changing of the Seasons, will join the former Genesis frontman for the March 20th ‘warm-up show’ in Paris, before setting out across Europe. Both singers certainly have distinctive vocal stylings, and could well prove to be well-matched. Gabriel discovered the Norwegian songstress when they performed together last year, the same year she received a Spelleman Award nomination for her live album.
