More great news from our favourite label, our favourite distro, our favourite record shop. Last year Fysisk Format released their Bransjevelter #1 — a cassette tape compilation of their artists, bursting out of the underground to knock the industry (bransje) over.
In 2008 Fysisk Format was a young DIY label. In 2009 they have proved, if not even surprised us with, an ability to relase one beautiful hand folded CD after another. Thick, luxurious digipack covers, elaborate folding techniques, posters, gold, silver details — not to mention how every album reviewed here on Nö Music received a rating above 6.7, three reaching the 9.0 mark when including their Diger Distro service.
This Bransjevelter boasts the roster of both Fysisk Format and Diger, and we couldn’t agree more with their statement that this is a parade of Diger artists. Still, it’s simply a summary of what they have done in 2009, presenting a total of 58 tracks from Fysisk Format and Diger: Arms on Fire, Årabrot, Nils Bech, Blood Command, Kråkesølv, Esktaol and so forth. “You know, everything that is good in Norway today.”
Thanks to Diger, Fysisk Format and Tiger, for keeping music physically listenable — although, here’s to the digital Bransjevelter #2! Nö Music recommends Obliteration, Next Life, Kråkesølv, Dødpop, André Borgen, Le Corbeau and Manhattan Skyline.
Buy it on iTunes (64 NOK), Platekompaniet.no (79 kr) or let it stream freely from Spotify.
