Bonnie Prince Billy releasing Susanna Wallumrød covers

Written on October 7th, 2009 by Åse Bredeli Røyset

Susanna Wallumrød is known for her Magical Orchestra and solo efforts, often interpreting contemporary classics in an eerie, dusk pop universe. However beautiful, performing “Love will tear us apart” ‘your way’, will hardly go down in history. However, Wallumrød’s own songwriting skills are not to be trifled with. In 2004, Mojo labelled the song “Believer” off Susanna and the Magical Orchestra’s debut album “one of the greatest break-up songs ever”. Her debut solo effort Sonata Mix Dwarf Cosmos was released on Rune Grammofon in 2007, and held only original recordings, and it is off this album Bonnie Prince Billy has picked two favourites to call his own. Wallumrød has previously performed Bonnie Prince Billy covers, toured and performed debuts with him, and he has contributed to her albums, and it seems the time is right for thw collaboration to start working the other way around. The songs “Stay” and “People Living” are to be released on a 7″ through Drag City the 20th October.
