Serena Maneesh signs to 4AD

Written on September 25th, 2009 by Åse Bredeli Røyset

Classic shugaze signs to classic label. Emil Nikolaisen and his musical friends and family are in company with the likes of The Big Pink, Blonde Redhead, Bon Iver and The Breeders, now that Beggars Group affiliated 4AD have decided to release Serena Maneesh’s second album in March.

Serena’s anticipated sophomore effort will fit neatly amongst the ranks of seminal second albums like Cocteau Twins’ Head over Heels, Dead Can Dance’s Splean and Ideal, Pixies’s Surfer Rosa - not to mention the rest of their discography - from the 4AD’s prime era in the eighties.
