Rockettothesky rockets new projects

Jenny Hval, aka Rockettothesky, released her Medea last year to raving reviews, but we’ve heard surprisingly little from Medea since then. What we did hear was J-Hva performing Meshes of Voice with Susanna Wallumrød in March — and for those who thought they missed the only ever display of this, fear not, it is being performed again in August.

But there’s more. Hval is describing several new projects emerging from her HQs this year, starting with Nude on Sand — a project with Rockettothesky-member Håvard Volden. What it is? “Free improv, monologues, John Fahey and blood in flight,” she answers. Concerts have gone, and will come, next month.

There’s also a notion of a project with Hval’s favourite Norwegian writer, Inger Bråtveit, currently being concluded. More on that subject soon, or actually, in Jenny Hval’s own words, there will be “more on more soon”.

A few Rockettothesky-appearances are also confirmed for the summer. Check her mySpace to see if she’s coming to a theater near you.
