Preview new Whitest Boy Alive album track

Written on January 26th, 2009 by Dan Roberts

We reported recently on the details for The Whitest Boy Alive’s second record, Rules, due out on the 2nd of March, 2009, and if you can’t wait that long the album’s closing track, ‘Island’, is currently streaming on the band’s MySpace. A melancholy tidal refrain washes over a repeated taut bassline and is supplemented by swirling synths that reflect the band’s recent decision to take on Daniel Nentwig, ‘Mr Synth’ as they would have it, permanently. Given that addition and the huge success of the gorgeous Fred Falke remix of ‘Golden Cage’ one of the biggest questions surrounding Rules is whether it will find the band moving more in the electronic direction they initially envisioned. All in all ‘Island’ perhaps hints at both a more electronic but also a more reflective second effort.
