Ida Maria to rerelease debut

Written on January 22nd, 2009 by Dan Roberts

Fresh from having her single ‘Oh My God’ named as the third best of the recently departed year by no less of an (admittedly not particularly musical) authority than Time Magazine, Ida Maria is set to offer a refurbished version of her debut record Fortress Round My Heart.

‘As of the 1st January, I am an independent artist!’, Ida reveals, a freedom which she is celebrating by, for purely artistic and entirely not exposure or pecuniary-gain related reasons, ‘bringing out a new version of my album with all new artwork, three additional tracks and a new order – the way I wanted to do it!!’… I have designed the artwork, added three new songs, and changed the track listing. Now it sounds, looks and feels like I want it to feel, and I am so excited again.’

The new artwork looks considerably rawer and more warts-and-all than the original portrait, and the photo was apparently shot by Maria’s drummer Olle in his apartment with the help of a pocket flashlight.

The new version of Fortress Round My Heart is out from 9th of February, and it remains to be seen if we like it so much better when, um, the tracklisting has been slightly tampered with…
