First bands for resuscitated Hove Festival

Written on January 22nd, 2009 by Dan Roberts

Well, Hove festival was rushed to hospital, had them electricity pads plonked on its life-weary chest, the doctors lost all sign of a pulse and Hove was peacefully floating into the tunnel of light when Melvin Benn strode in ‘House’-style and puckered up to give the ailing festival the kiss of life, and, lo and behold, that beepy machine thingy started bleeping right up again.

All of which means that rather than wasting away in a hospital bed to catch MRSA and enjoy numerous bunches of petrol-station flowers on the bedside table, Hove leapt gamely from its deathbed and set about working out just which bands it fancied this summer.

So far it’s managed to round up Metronomy, Bring Me The Horizon and krautrock revivalists Fujiya & Miyagi, and that was just in the hospital car-park. And there’s Fjorden Baby! already confirmed from “Olde Hove”.

Hove promises new artist announcements “every night at midnight”, so keep your eyes peeled, they’re promising Toffen’s new favourite band tonight.
