The first headline act has been confirmed for the Quart Festival, which is promising a slew of acts all ‘bigger than Bowie’. The first of these gargantuan stars is former Guns ‘n’ Roses axe-wielder Slash, who, whilst not really bigger than Bowie on his own, is perhaps on a par if you factor in the ‘Friends’ he is billed as bringing with him. Among those to have appeared with the guitarist at similar events in the past, and thus being tipped to make an appearance are Lenny Kravitz, Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), Michael Jackson, Fergie (Black Eyed Peas), Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), B Real (Cypress Hill), Perry Farrel (Jane’s Addiction)and Jason Bonham, although I would think Jacko would be a long shot.
With a high-profile booking team and rather daunting ticket prices in place, combined with the boasts of the organisers about the scale of this year’s event, it’s fair to say that expectations are high. Whilst fans’ hopes that Guns ‘n’ Roses themselves will make an appearance at the festival seem wide of the mark, Aussie rockers AC/DC are still being bandied around as a potential headliner.
