Silje Nes to play UK Offset Festival

Written on August 21st, 2008 by Dan Roberts

Largely self-taught multi-instrumentalist Silje Nes only played her first gig outside of Norway little over a year ago, but she is making up for lost time with some prestigious dates in the UK. Fresh from a performance at Brighton’s Norwegian-heavy Great Escape Festival Bergen-based Nes has now been confirmed for an appearance at the Offset Festival on the 30th of August. Offset is a 10,000 capacity event half an hour away from London with an emphasis on the artier side of rock - this year it seems spiky eighties post-punk is the order of the day: Wire and Gang of Four are the headline acts, with more modern wannabes The Young Knives tugging on their venerable shirtsleeves.

The Offset Festival takes place in Hainault Forest Country Park from the 30-31 August.
